Jason and Lisa Engelhardt came a considerable ways since their childhoods in Jamestown, N.Y., and Sarasota, Fla. They’ve lived-in Virginia seashore area – on / off – since 1991.

Jason’s military career brought them back again to the location repeatedly through the years. Some over two years ago, they exposed the JCOC Community Thrift shop on South Plaza Trail.

Sometimes a buyer will come by their particular Community Thrift shop who has ties to 1 of their childhood hometowns. Occasionally in sorting through donations, they’ll run into a contribution that can places all of them back in touch with fond memories from childhood.

Recently, someone donated an old record album address from RCA Victor. It was completely empty – no documents around.

From the cover was a colorful picture of popular Cuban-born musician, Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III. He was better known in the us as Desi Arnaz. The vacant record album was named, “Babalu, and Seven various other Favorites by Desi Arnaz along with his Orchestra.” The example regarding cover features Arnaz enthusiastically playing a conga drum.

The Engelhardts, it brought back fond thoughts of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in the classic tv sitcom, “I Like Lucy.”

Jason Engelhardt was raised in Jamestown, Lucille Ball’s hometown. He recalls riding their bicycle past her childhood residence at 59 Lucy Lane in Celeron, a suburb of Jamestown.

“Lucy ended up being hilarious. I'd’ve liked having gotten to see her face-to-face, ” stated Jason Engelhardt. “i recall odds and ends of her really funny skits. The one with all the conveyor buckle when you look at the chocolate factory probably stands out probably the most.”
