Avanell Scales, Manager
Avanell has been with BikeBeat for ten years, last serving as the Assistant Manager of BikeBeat Yorktown. In addition to being one of BikeBeat's top assets, Avanell enjoys road, mountain, and cyclocross riding, and is a CAT Two racer on the Tradewinds Cycling Team. She currently holds the Virginia State BAR Champion Cyclocross title. She lives in Newport News with her husband, Chris.
Darren Cox, Sales & Service
In charge of The Department of General Awesomeness at BikeBeat, Williamsburg, you won't find a more enthusiastic cyclist than Darren. An accomplished road, triathlon, mountain bike, and Xterra rider, Darren is the go-to guy to give you just the right advice to get you started on your next passion. A man who lives and breathes bikes, he knows his way around one, and can help you out with your mechanical needs as well. When he's not working, he is usually riding or racing, often with his wife, Helen.
Betsy Gates, Sales & Service
A customer favorite, Betsy has been with BikeBeat since "back in the days . . ." She knows her way around a bike mechanically, but especially enjoys helping customers find the perfect bike to meet their riding needs, and making sure the bike and gear fit the customer perfectly. Betsy stays fit & energetic riding one of her two beautiful road bikes or practicing yoga.

Saturday Morning 7:30 AM Meets behind BikeBeat. 35+ miles. A/A+ Pace - Race training pace with a few re-groups. A challenging & fun ride for fit, experienced rider. Usually followed by a social hour with coffee & snacks at a nearby coffee shop.

BikeBeat Williamsburg offers twice a month March thru September, and once a month October thru February. Classes are at 7pm. Call ahead to be sure we have space, as we're limited to about 10 students. Children 8 and up are welcome when accompanied by a parent.
