Staff report

Springfield police are looking for clues in a pair of robberies that happened late Sunday and early Monday.

Police said a man entered the Family Video at MacArthur Boulevard and Jefferson Street around 10 p.m. Sunday and demanded money from the cash register. The employee believed he was carrying a handgun but police said Monday it might have been a BB gun.

The robber took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

He was described as a black man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He had a medium build and was wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a tan mask.

Then at 2:20 a.m., a man entered the Circle K gas station at 2641 W. Monroe St. and demanded money from the clerk. The robber went behind the counter, stole money and fled northbound, police said.

He was described as a light-skinned black man, between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall, heavy set, wearing dark pants, a green plaid long sleeve shirt, a dark colored stocking cap and had a towel covering his face, police said.
